Scott County Veterinary Clinic is a full-service veterinary hospital, including a pharmacy, a surgical suite with state-of-the-art technology, on-site x-ray capabilities, a supervised intensive care area, and boarding facilities.
Our team of veterinary technicians, assistants, management and customer service representatives are dedicated to creating a good experience for both you and your pet.
Dr. Karen Hancock Young, DVM
Veterinarian, Clinic Owner
Dr. Young is a native of Lexington, KY, where she grew up on a farm with lots of animals that she loved to care for. She decided at the age of nine that she wanted to be a veterinarian and never wavered from the path. Dr. Young graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar’s Math, Science and Technology program in 2002 continuing her love of science and animals through her high school career. She then went on to acquire her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky in 2005 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Young worked in a busy mixed animal practice in Summerville, GA for almost 3 years before she had the opportunity to purchase Scott County Veterinary Clinic and move back to beautiful Central Kentucky.
She lives in Georgetown with her husband, Chad and her 2-year-old daughter, Lauren. Other, furrier family members include her sidekick and partner since the beginning of this veterinary journey, Toby Keith, a Jack Russell Terrier mix, and two cats, Linus and Winnie. Dr. Young can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members!
Dr. Emily Schell, DVM
Veterinarian
Originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania, Dr. Schell acquired her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Sciences in 2017 from LMU. In 2022 she graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Her passions include feline, and soft tissue surgery. She is looking forward to building bonds with her patients and their owners. In her spare time away from the clinic you can find her making art, and spending time with her three felines Terra, Melanie, & Lewis.
Dr. Terrill Hubert, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Terrill Hubert grew up in Post Falls, Idaho. She received her bachelors of Animal Science from the University of Idaho in 1999 then attended Purdue University, graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. School and jobs took her to the Midwest, Boston, and San Francisco Bay areas before settling here in Kentucky. Her passion is nurturing the owner pet bond through effective communication and education. In her down time you can find her spending time with her husband of 20+ years, 4 children, and their pets.
Dr. Isaac Gover, DVM
Veterinarian
Originally from Whitesburg, Kentucky, Dr. Gover acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Sciences and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine both from Lincoln Memorial University, graduating in 2020. Dr Gover brings experience as an Internal Medicine Intern and relief Veterinarian, as well as 2 years of Emergency Department experience. His passions are wide, expanding from Diagnostic Imaging, Exotics, and Wildlife to Public Education. Now residing in Lexington, KY, Dr. Gover spends his time outside of work with his wife, son, and their pets, either taking on new home projects, reading and sculpting, or exploring outdoors. He looks forward to educating and providing the best care for your pets through individualized treatments and diagnostics.
Dr. Erryn Sciba, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Sciba hails from the beautiful state of Delaware and brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our clinic here in Kentucky. Dr. Sciba’s journey began at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. She then pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian at the Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with her doctorate in 2024.
Dr. Sciba developed a deep love and understanding of animals from an early age. Her passion for animals was further enriched by her work as an assistant in small animal clinics, giving her a well-rounded perspective on animal care.
Dr. Sciba is particularly passionate about the animal-human bond and is dedicated to enhancing the wellness of pets and their owners. She has a keen interest in internal medicine, ultrasound diagnostics, and behavioral medicine, ensuring comprehensive care for your beloved pets.
Dr. Sciba is married and recently moved to Kentucky to support her husband’s equine career. They share their home with a delightful golden retriever named Norah. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Sciba loves to spend her time with family, hiking, and playing pickleball. In her downtime, you can find her crocheting or baking. Her diverse interests and active lifestyle reflect her energetic and compassionate approach to both her personal and professional life.
Ashlie Martin
Practice Manager
Ashlie joined our team in August 2023 and has already begun helping us serve our clients and patients better! Originally from Winchester, KY, Ashlie attended EKU for a Bachelor’s in Education, but has since joined the University of Virginia for Business. She is dedicated to achieving success within a business, and is most passionate about team development, impact, and client service. Since joining veterinary medicine 2 years ago, she has settled into her dream career, and hopes to obtain her CVPM within the next two years. Currently, Ashlie lives in Nicholasville, KY with her husband and 4 dogs, although we are trying to get her to relocate to Georgetown! In her spare time, she enjoys painting, spending time outdoors, or diving into home projects.
Tammy Washburn, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Tammy Washburn grew up in Central Florida, and upon graduating from the University of Florida in 1993, she moved to Kentucky. In 1996, Tammy attended Morehead State University where she obtained her veterinary technician license. She currently lives in Stamping Ground with her husband, two horses, and a cat. In her free time, Tammy enjoys volunteering with the Kentucky Wildlife Center and Scott County Girl Scouts.
Mary Cornell, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Mary was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended Morehead State University where she acquired her veterinary technician license. Over the years she practiced in Equine & Emergency medicine. Her passion is educating owners on the importance of routine and regular care for their pets. In her spare time she is devoted to her family with her husband, two girls, her dog named Colt & Ebony. On her days off you can find her gardening and taking care of their farm pets.
Caroline Cobuluis
Veterinary Assistant
Caroline is one of the wonderful assistants that joined us in 2021. We are so glad to have her as a part of our team! Caroline was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and moved to Georgetown when she was nine years old. She has always had a love for animals of all kinds. Caroline graduated from Scott County High School in 2020. While she was in high school, she took animal science classes. She has been working in veterinary clinics since 2018. She plans to attend Morehead State University in the future for her LVT. Caroline spends her free time with family, watching movies, cooking/baking, and pet sitting.
Amanda DeRossett
Veterinary Assistant
Amanda was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, graduating from Lafayette High School. She studied criminal justice at Eastern Kentucky University to become an Animal Control Officer. After her college career, she started working at the Lexington Humane Society and Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control. While working at Animal Care & Control, she decided that she wanted to get into small animal medicine and enrolled in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician program. When Amanda is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her spouse and their two fur children; Ghost, an American Bulldog/ American Pit Bull mix, and Princess Leia, a Basenji/ Husky mix. And they have a turtle named Jack! She also enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, going to the movie theater, and caring for and tending to her plants.
Madison Sandford
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Madison began with us as a veterinary assistant but has recently achieved her veterinary license in November, 2024! She is one of the first faces you see when you visit our clinic. She graduated from Scott County high school in 2018 and has a love for all animals, although her favorite are hedgehogs! She has three of them, along with two cockatiels and a green cheek conure. She has always had a calling to take care of animals. Her dream is to work either at a rescue center or an animal rehabilitation facility. We are so glad to have Madison as part of our team.
Olivia Joseph
Veterinary Assistant
Olivia was born and raised in Georgetown, KY. She joined our team in June 2022 and is currently attending Penn & Foster College to get her license in Veterinary Technology. Olivia has always loved animals and has past experience working as a kennel technician. In her free time she loves spending time with her friends, family, playing the drums and loving on her dog named Aurora.

Jackie grew up in Enniscorthy, Ireland from where she graduated high school. She then moved to Kentucky to pursue working with horses for 20 years. From there she started working in small animal care throughout the US and eventually ended up back in Kentucky living with her husband, dog, and two cats. She joined our team and we are so lucky to have her here to take care of our boarding facility and to give your pet great care while you are away!
Teresa Hollon
Customer Service Representative
Teresa is an advocate of training and rescuing canines and actually has 6 of her own! In addition to spending time with her family and fur-family alike, she most enjoys traveling and fishing.
Kadie Bowling
Customer Service Representative
Kadie joined us in January 2023 and has been a wonderful addition to our front desk team.Kadie’s passion for helping animals extends beyond her years, and joining our practice was one of her first steps to continuing education in veterinary medicine. Currently attending the University of Kentucky, Kadie hopes to become a veterinary technician within the next few years to better serve our clients and patients.
When she’s not working, you can find Kadie in London, KY on mud trails, getting tattoos, or spending time with her beloved dog, Maybel. Next time you see her, ask her about her newest ink or latest “fur child” story. She’ll be sure to share a laugh.
