Dr. Karen Hancock Young, DVM
Veterinarian, Clinic Owner
Dr. Young is a native of Lexington, KY, where she grew up on a farm with lots of animals that she loved to care for. She decided at the age of nine that she wanted to be a veterinarian and never wavered from the path. She then went on to acquire her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky in 2005 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Young worked in a busy mixed animal practice in Summerville, GA for almost 3 years before she had the opportunity to purchase Scott County Veterinary Clinic and move back to beautiful Central Kentucky.
She lives in Georgetown with her husband, Chad and her 2-year-old daughter, Lauren. Other, furrier family members include her sidekick and partner since the beginning of this veterinary journey, Toby Keith, a Jack Russell Terrier mix, and two cats, Linus and Winnie. Dr. Young can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members!
